Interface Configuration

Reported by: anonymous Owned by:
Priority: minor Milestone: LuCI 0.10.1
Component: LuCI Applications Keywords:

Description

After using LuCI to configure 1 interface and apply, LuCI takes down all the interface.
What LuCI could have done is restart that interface only without taking all the interface down

Sounds easy in theory but isn't in practise. If you moved a physical interface from one iface to another then you'd need to restart both. If your interface affects other ifaces dependant upon it (like 6in4, 6to4, pptp rely on wan) you have to restart those as well. Also the routes and aliases associated with your current iface might influence others.

To summarize, the current OpenWrt? framework does not allow for this.
It will change when netifd is introduced, until then it is a wontfix.
